Get Open ERP : Compare Editions

Open ERP offers to customers a set of editions that bundle Open ERP with commercial maintenance and services. These editions provide you the guarantees you need to run Open ERP in a professional environment. These editions are second level maintenance contracts, for a first level support contract, you should contact an Open ERP certified partner.

Open ERP editions (community or not) are not differentiated on functionalities. All editions are based on exactly the same code, software and documentation. The differences between the 3 editions is only related to the service level agreement and the guarantees you, or your customer, require.

Editions Descriptions

Functional ERP

Access to all features and modules

Open ERP includes all functionalities you would expect from an extended enterprise management solution, including accounting, CRM, sales, purchases, stock, manufacturing, portal, document management system, etc.

Open ERP editions are not differentiated on functionalities. All editions are based on the same development version. The difference between the three editions is just related to the service level agreement you require.

The SMB and Basic Editions covers all modules that are in the addons category of Open ERP. The Corporate Edition covers all modules from the addons category plus all quality certified modules.

Source code availability

Our Open Source licence gives you the guarantee that you will always be able: to use the software without any restriction, whether it is in time or in number of users or modules. To modify and study the software for your own needs. To distribute the software and to have the software's sources and all modules.

Bug trackers

As to constently improve the quality of Open ERP, we transparently manage all bugs related on the software on a public bug tracker to manage all community requests. We do not provide any warranty on bug fixing for bugs that are reported in this public bug tracker but most of them are fixed in a reasonable delay.

People who have a maintenance contract will have a higher priority to bugfix their bug. We do not provide any  warranty for the community.

Documentation

All our documentation are available online. You can get access to our books but also find free support from the Forum or IRC channel. The translation of the software is also managed online so that contributor can help improving the quality of the terminologies.
 

Guarantees

Bug fixing guarantee

The Open ERP editions include a bugfixing service, with different delays based on the edition. We provide a waranty on the delay to dedicate a developper on a specific bug. (it's not the delay to fix a bug). Once a developper has been assigned on the bug, he will fix it directly or contact you if he can't reproduce the problem on our testing platforms.

The exact time to fix the problem is related to the bug complexity, but most of the bugs (90%) are fixed in less than four hours, once the developper as been assigned.

Covered Bugs

We put distinctions between accepted bugs:

  • Big companies: need bugfix and maintenance on high load, concurrency
    accesses, speed of the software.
  • Smaller companies: most of the time, do not need maintenance on these aspects.

Life cycle guarantee

The «Life cycle» guarantees that we will continue to maintain the current version (at the time on which you purchased the contract) for several years. It allows you to not be forced to migrate your solution at each new version of Open ERP. We are able to provide a guarantee of maintenance up to five years on a stable version of Open ERP.

Securtity Alerts

Open ERP keeps you directly informed when a problem is detected on the level of safety with security alert.

We will send you directly the right patch by email.

You will lay out of an automatic migration (correction of bugs and holes of safety by the Editor) of Open ERP to make evolve and update the base.

Automatic migration

Open ERP guarantees you the automatic migrations from one stable version of Open ERP to another stable version of Open ERP (since the version 4.2). This migration system is provided for the modules covered by your edition.

Migration scripts are available directly for people that have purchased an edition. For the community, we provide the scripts as soon as our investment to develop and maintain these scripts are reimbursed by customers contracts. You can expect to get migration scripts in a delay between 3 and 7 months.

The commercial editions provide you the service you may need to guarantee these migrations in all environments. If there is a problem in your migration, it will be fixed by the editor in a few days.

This does not cover maintenance of your custom modules or those you developped yourself, unless you made them pass a quality certification.

Maintenance is provided only for certified quality modules as we are sure the code has been reviewed and tested by our developers.

Users number

The maintenance contract and guarantees we provide is related to the number of users on your system. Simply because it costs more to maintain a database with 500 of users than a database with 5 users.

Bigger companies faces different troubles than smaller ones, that's why we have to apply three different prices according to the number of users on the system. As an example, bigger companies may encounter problems or bugs related to the high volume of data or computations to do on their base. That's why the maintenance contract is related to the number of users on the system.

Shared Funding Modules

The SMB and corporate editions provide you an access to all shared funding modules, included for free in your edition. You can get the list of shared funding modules here. The others edition can purchase these shared funding module independently.

Custom Module Certification

A module with the quality certification label means we made tests so that we ensured it has a certain level of quality and it fits the Open ERP guidelines.

But it does not mean it is maintained for free. For migration, lifecycle, security alerts and bugfixes, you have to subscibe a maintenance contract. We offer maintenance contract for all certified quality modules.
